About the work

Delphine Lebourgeois, a French artist residing in London, UK, pursued her Fine Art education at Ecole des Beaux Arts de Lyon and obtained her Masters from Central St Martins in London. Her artistic endeavours primarily revolve around the contemporary female experience, drawing inspiration from personal encounters and the ongoing feminist movement in society. Lebourgeois employs a diverse range of mediums, including digital, ink, watercolour, acrylic, and screenprint, with drawing serving as the cornerstone of her artistic expression. Through her recent series, such as "Witches" (2020), "All Hysterical" (2021), and "Delicacies" (2023), she delves into the theme of female oppression spanning historical contexts to the modern-day, including its portrayal in popular culture. Her depictions of defiant female characters, often depicted in solidarity and activism, aim to empower and resonate with the ongoing struggle for women's liberation and expression. Lebourgeois has collaborated with notable entities such as The New Yorker, The Guardian, Le Monde, Amnesty International, Soho House, EA Games, and The Other Art Fair, among others.
